The Geis Group is once more a logistics partner for the Czech Day Against Cancer
The Prague Anti-Cancer League, with the help of its partners, has organized this year’s 14th annual Czech Day Against Cancer, a public collection which will be used to fight the disease.
The main theme of the collection in this year’s event is the prevention of prostate cancer. The companies of Geis CZ and General Parcel Čechy have traditionally supported the successful course of this event with their logistics services.
The Czech Day Against Cancer took place on the 12th of May this year. This is one of the most visible parts of the renowned public collection which most of us now associate with 14 years of street sales of the yellow marigold flower. The proceeds of the collection are intended for the non-profit organization “Prague Anti-Cancer League” which uses the proceeds primarily for the prevention of cancer, its treatment, and research projects.
This is the fourth year that the Geis Group has become one of the main partners for the collection. The logistics services provided by Geis included the quick distribution of all materials needed for holding the collection (flowers, satchels, flyers, T-shirts, and many more items) from the Prague central office directly to volunteers throughout the entire Republic. “This year we delivered 800,000 yellow flowers with a red ribbon, and the same number of prevention flyers and other materials to all 77 districts in the Czech Republic. This meant a total delivery to addresses in 650 locations. We began with the distribution at the end of March. Another part of the work is waiting for us when it’s time to gather the remainders from the volunteers,” says Tomáš Hamr, head dispatcher of the branch General Parcel Čechy Praha – Modletice, who organized the event for the Geis group. This year a record 10,080 volunteers donned their yellow T-shirts, including several renowned figures from the Czech cultural scene.
For the Geis Group, the work for the Czech Day Against Cancer certainly does not finish on the 12th of May. The pick-up of the remaining material will take place until the end of July. The volunteers order transport to the Geis CZ and General Parcel Čechy Customer Centre as soon as they pass their satchel with the gathered money to the Czech Post Office, officially completing their collection. It is important to note that one can still send contributions to the account of the Czech Day Against Cancer up until the end of the calendar year. And in closing, a message from the Anti-Cancer League: “The newest findings state that observing the simple principles of a healthy lifestyle can prevent up to 50% of all oncological diseases!”.
